In 1877, Colonel Albert Augustus Pope founded the Pope Manufacturing Company which built both the Columbia bicycle and the Columbia and Pope Hartford automobiles. The factory was located on Capitol Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut . The Pope Hartford automobile was built from 1904 to 1914.
In 1895, Colonel Pope founded Pope Park and donated it to the City of Hartford for use of his employees and city residents.
A Pope Hartford Garage Plate has been reproduced using the original Pope Hartford logo. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Friends of Pope Park. The Friends of Pope Park, a non-profit organization, are a group of neighborhood residents who have formed a parternship for the improvement of Pope Park.
